WORLD IKEBANA DAY 2024

The WINDMILLS IKEBANA GROUP presents an elegant display of Ohara Ikebana Arrangements.

We thank the organisers for hosting an exhibition of floral arrangements to celebrate World Ikebana Day.

It was a sight for sore eyes. 

Under the able tutelage of Deepika Mansingh, Associate First Master, the Ohara School of Ikebana, 6 of her students showcased arrangements that reflected meticulous planning and a deep respect for the ancient Japanese art. The AFM herself displayed arrangements that she put together with ease and confidence.

The on-looker could see that immense effort was involved, from selecting and preparing fresh blooms to the creation of harmonious displays that captured the essence of Ikebana’s philosophy. One that emphasizes harmony, simplicity and respect for nature. Every single arrangement was presented in the best light, incorporating elements of traditional Japanese culture and design.

To lend culinary support for the occasion Chef Mandaar and his team set up a special Japanese menu. This was tempting, so many of us made a bee line to the Cafe on our way out after the exhibition.
