JAPJI SAHIB PAATH
AN AUSPICIOUS START TO 2024

2023 and 2024 in Windmills had an auspicious start with prayers for peace and harmony.
The Guru Granth Sahib (the Holy Book of the Sikhs) was ushered in with great humility and reverence. Placed on a platform from which the Granthi read the prayers. It was a well organized, solemn recital of the ‘Japji Path’ which the first composition found in the Holy Book that most devotees recite each morning.
The essence was a reminder that there is only one God, the supreme and absolute power.
This was followed by the ‘Chaupai Sahib’ a hymn that asks for protection from external and internal enemies, worries and afflictions.
Last but not least, portions of the Gurubani were recited by Raagis in a musical form which is called Kirtan.
The atmosphere was serene, devotional and very respectful.
The Langar was what it is meant to be, a meal served to remind us that all people belong to one family and should be treated equally.
Once again full marks to the organisers who adhered to tradition, the team that did the elegant decor and the PMD staff who are always around to help.
The photos and videos captured the theme and are here for you to see.
We hope that this becomes an annual feature so we begin the year with the blessings of the Almighty.
