WINDMILLS CAMPOUT 2023

The most looked forward to event of the year takes place in February - the Camp Out! 

Year after year, Manish and Zibi manage the event. The twosome have overcome hiccups and got it down to a science. This year with 420 participants, Manish was on the ground overseeing the tents and logistics. Given that we live in an age where remote control is the trend in every operational scenario, Zibi did her bit remotely!!  She got a few eager beavers to see to the food and entertainment. Way to go girl!

The Toddlers kick started the event at 4pm in a brightly decorated niche. A group of young girls who were passing by, lent a helping hand to decorate the place.  Little emphasis on snacks more on balloons, toys and free play.

This year the popularity and participation in the Treasure Hunt was astoundingly  enthusiastic. Apeksha, Nidhi Shrivastava  and gang spent a lot of time and effort planning out each and every detail. We had several teams running around the campus with the organisers trailing behind to supply clues!  The eager competitiveness was fun to watch.  The icing on the cake was a goodie bag given to each participant by WilderMart, the organic and healthy eating food company.

Craftsworks is one of a kind. Meticulous and unflappable! The team headed by Mandaar set up the infrastructure before noon and by 6pm they got the fires lit and grilling began. Plenty of food as always from BBQ, starters, vegetarian and non vegetarian main dishes and desserts.

By 8:30pm both residents and staff had had their fill & we sat down to listen to Sumanth, our super 4 Desert runner, who had just come back from Patagonia.  We were spell bound listening to his experience and awed by his grit and determination.

Then the bonfire was lit and the kids had the time of their lives tasting the s’mores that Shwetha and Shalini had prepared. All this to the beat of lively music and dancing. Some stayed back to play Antakshari while the exhausted kids retired to their tents.

Good morning at Camp Out!

WilderMart set up breakfast. Flavoured tea, an array of breads, jams, spreads, mueslis, organically grown fruits, vegan items, plant based milk etc. We were spoilt for choice in the introduction to healthy eating.

On that high note….farewell to Camp Out 2023….see you next year healthier and fitter!
