CHRISTMAS FESTIVITIES
2023

"A WONDERFUL TIME OF YEAR"

2023 saw a spate of Christmas and end-of-the-year festivities.

The organisers were faced with the challenge that school was still on and to crown it, many kids had exams. Nonetheless, they went all out and had several activities lined up.

The decor in the clubhouse set the mood for celebrations. Trees, stars and glitter were all so appropriate.

On the 15th December, two of our gifted Windmillers organised arts and crafts activities for kids. They sat diligently for an hour and a half helping the children to make Xmas tree ornaments that they could take home.

The next day, 14 NGO’s set up stalls (many of which were sponsored by generous residents) selling their work to support various social causes. So this was an opportunity to do some last minute Xmas shopping.

A popular Whitefield Arts & Crafts Studio conducted a well attended workshop for children. A big hit was the Snow Globes that they helped the kids make.

Two Young Windmillers did face and hand painting for three whole hours!!!

Craftworks stepped up with a festive High Tea menu that was reasonably priced. Nothing like their Hot Chocolate and cookies.

At 5:30pm the entertainment began with students from a popular Bangalore academy playing a few numbers. After that Young Windmillers gave solo performances - vocal, viola, piano and on the ukulele.

A few Windmills talented residents and entrepreneurs donated gifts or their expertise for a raffle draw.

A surprise flash mob dance was entertaining with dancing performed by kids and ladies. Santa and Mrs. Claus were greeted with a lot of enthusiasm and they sat through the rest of the performances for a photo shoot with the children as the finale.

There was a reading from the scriptures and carol singing which brought in

the meaning of Christmas.

Once again thanks to the volunteers who put in so much effort and to the PMD staff for their unflinching support.

The festivities will end on the 22nd December with the fling go ‘A Boy Called Christmas’.

Thanks Brian for stringing in the Gallery all the lovely pictures taken by two eager resident photographers.

Happy Holidays everyone!!!

Thank you for the creativity and effort put forward by the volunteers who helped make this Christmas celebration a memorable experience.  Participating on the organizing committee has been a great opportunity for us to get to know our neighbors in much deeper and meaningful way.

If you have lived at Windmills for 6 years or for 6 months and have a special talent, skill, or time to offer, we encourage you to volunteer for the next event.  New residents are especially welcome; it's a great way to get to introduce yourself to your neighbors and celebrate a special event in the life of our community.
